Jacqueline Crawley
Jacqueline N. Crawley is an American behavioral neuroscientist renowned for her work in the field of neurobiology and psychiatry. She is particularly known for her research on mouse models of neuropsychiatric disorders and the development of behavioral assays to study autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
Early Life and Education[edit]
Jacqueline Crawley was born in City, State. She completed her undergraduate studies at University Name, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then pursued her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at University Name, focusing on the behavioral analysis of rodent models.
Career[edit]
Crawley began her career as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), where she developed several innovative behavioral tests for assessing anxiety and depression in mice. She later joined the faculty at University Name, where she continued her research on mouse models of psychiatric disorders.
In 2001, Crawley moved to the National Institute of Health (NIH), where she served as the Chief of the Laboratory of Behavioral Neuroscience. During her tenure at the NIH, she made significant contributions to the understanding of the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to autism and other neuropsychiatric conditions.
Research Contributions[edit]
Crawley's research has focused on the development of mouse models to study the genetic basis of autism spectrum disorders. She has developed several behavioral assays, such as the three-chamber social interaction test, which are widely used to assess social behaviors in mice. Her work has provided valuable insights into the role of specific genes in the development of autism and has helped to identify potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of ASD.
Awards and Honors[edit]
Throughout her career, Crawley has received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to the field of behavioral neuroscience. These include the Society for Neuroscience's Award Name and the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology's Award Name.
