3-Fluorodeschloroketamine (also known as 3-FDCK or Fluoroketamine) is a dissociative anesthetic that belongs to the arylcyclohexylamine class. It is structurally related to ketamine, a well-known anesthetic and dissociative drug.
Chemical Structure and Properties[edit]
3-Fluorodeschloroketamine is chemically similar to deschloroketamine (DCK), with the primary difference being the substitution of a fluorine atom at the third position of the phenyl ring. Its IUPAC name is 2-(3-fluorophenyl)-2-methylamino-cyclohexanone. The molecular formula is C13H16FNO, and it has a molecular weight of 221.27 g/mol.
Pharmacology[edit]
As a dissociative anesthetic, 3-FDCK acts primarily on the NMDA receptor, where it functions as a non-competitive NMDA receptor antagonist. This action leads to the disruption of glutamate neurotransmission, which is responsible for its anesthetic and dissociative effects.
Effects[edit]
The effects of 3-FDCK are similar to those of ketamine and other dissociatives. These effects can include:
Uses[edit]
3-FDCK is primarily used in research settings. It has not been approved for medical use and is not commonly used in clinical practice. Its effects and safety profile are still under investigation.
Legal Status[edit]
The legal status of 3-FDCK varies by country. In some jurisdictions, it may be classified as a controlled substance due to its structural similarity to ketamine and potential for abuse.
Safety and Toxicity[edit]
The safety and toxicity profile of 3-FDCK is not well-documented. As with other dissociatives, there may be risks of neurotoxicity, psychological dependence, and other adverse effects. Caution is advised when handling and using this substance.
