Sazerac Company

The Sazerac Company is a privately held American alcoholic beverage company headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. With roots dating back to the 1800s, it is one of the oldest family-operated distilleries in the United States.

History

The Sazerac Company was established in 1869 by Thomas H. Handy after he purchased the Sazerac Coffee House in New Orleans. The coffee house was known for its signature cocktail, the Sazerac, which eventually became the company's namesake. Over the years, the company expanded its portfolio to include a variety of spirits, including whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, and rum.

Brands

The Sazerac Company owns a wide range of brands, including Buffalo Trace Distillery, Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, Southern Comfort, and Peychaud's Bitters. Each brand has its own unique history and contributes to the company's diverse product portfolio.

Buffalo Trace Distillery

Buffalo Trace Distillery is a historic distillery located in Frankfort, Kentucky. It is known for producing high-quality bourbon and has won numerous awards for its products.

Fireball Cinnamon Whisky

Fireball Cinnamon Whisky is a popular flavored whisky known for its sweet and spicy cinnamon flavor. It was originally part of a line of flavored schnapps produced by the Seagram company.

Peychaud's Bitters

Peychaud's Bitters is a key ingredient in the original Sazerac cocktail. It was created in the early 19th century by Antoine Amédée Peychaud, a Creole apothecary from the French colony of Saint-Domingue.

Operations

The Sazerac Company operates distilleries across the United States and around the world. In addition to its headquarters in New Orleans, the company has facilities in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Montana, California, Indiana, and Washington.
