Heath Shaw (born 27 November 1985) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club and the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League (AFL). Known for his defensive skills and leadership on the field, Shaw had a distinguished career spanning 16 seasons.

Early life and junior career

Heath Shaw was born in Victoria, Australia, into a family with a strong football pedigree. He is the son of former Collingwood player Ray Shaw and the nephew of Tony Shaw, a Collingwood premiership captain and coach. Heath played his junior football with the Northern Knights in the TAC Cup, where he showcased his talent as a defender.

AFL career

Collingwood Football Club

Shaw was drafted by the Collingwood Football Club with the 48th pick in the 2003 AFL Draft. He made his debut in 2005 and quickly established himself as a reliable defender. Shaw was known for his ability to read the play and his precise kicking skills. In 2010, he was a key player in Collingwood's premiership-winning team.

Greater Western Sydney Giants

In 2013, Shaw was traded to the Greater Western Sydney Giants. He brought experience and leadership to the young team and continued to perform at a high level. In 2015, he was named in the All-Australian team and won the Giants' Best and Fairest award. Shaw retired at the end of the 2020 season, having played a total of 325 AFL games.
