Frederic Moll

Frederic Moll is a renowned American surgeon and medical device inventor, best known as the co-founder of Intuitive Surgical, the company that developed the da Vinci Surgical System.

Early Life and Education

Frederic Moll was born in Seattle, Washington. He attended the University of Washington where he received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. He later earned his M.D. from the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Career

Moll began his career as a general surgeon at the UCSF Medical Center. He later transitioned into the medical technology industry, co-founding several successful companies.

In 1995, Moll co-founded Intuitive Surgical with Robert Younge and John Freund. The company developed the da Vinci Surgical System, a robotic surgical system designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach.
