Hempstead is a town located in Nassau County, on Long Island, in the U.S. state of New York. It is one of the three towns in Nassau County and the largest town in the state of New York.

History[edit]

Hempstead was settled in 1644 by English colonists. The town has a rich history, with many historic sites and buildings, including the St. George's Episcopal Church, which dates back to 1822.
