A Zoologist (pronunciation: zoh-OL-uh-jist) is a professional who studies the behavior, physiology, classification, and distribution of animals, both living and extinct, and how they interact with their ecosystems.

Etymology

The term "Zoologist" is derived from the Greek words "zōion" (ζῷον), meaning "animal", and "-logia" (λογία), meaning "study of".
