Wilhelmus Zakaria Johannes
Wilhelmus Zakaria Johannes (born 1 April 1943) is an Indonesian physician and politician. He served as the Minister of Health of Indonesia from 2004 to 2009.
Early life and education[edit]
Johannes was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. He completed his medical degree from the University of Indonesia in 1969. He then went on to specialize in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
Career[edit]
Johannes started his career as a physician in the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Jakarta. He later became the director of the hospital. In 2004, he was appointed as the Minister of Health of Indonesia by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. He served in this position until 2009.
Contributions to Health Sector[edit]
As the Minister of Health, Johannes implemented several health policies and programs to improve the health sector in Indonesia. He focused on improving the healthcare infrastructure, increasing the accessibility of healthcare services, and promoting preventive healthcare.
Personal life[edit]
Johannes is married and has two children. He is also an active member of the Indonesian Doctors Association.
