West Java (Template:Lang-id) is a province of Indonesia located on the western part of the island of Java. It is bordered by the provinces of Banten to the west, Central Java to the east, and the Special Capital Region of Jakarta to the northwest. The province's capital is Bandung.

West Java is characterized by its mountainous terrain, with the Parahyangan highlands dominating the central part of the province. The region is known for its fertile volcanic soil, which supports a variety of agricultural activities. The history of West Java is rich and diverse, with influences from various cultures and kingdoms. The region was once part of the Tarumanagara kingdom, one of the earliest Hindu kingdoms in Indonesia. Later, it became part of the Sunda Kingdom, which was known for its trade and cultural exchanges with other regions.

During the colonial period, West Java was a significant area for the Dutch East Indies, with Bandung becoming a center for education and culture. The province played a crucial role in the Indonesian struggle for independence.
