The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) is a public university in Tyler, Texas. It is part of the University of Texas System. The university was established in 1971 and has grown to serve over 10,000 students.

History

The University of Texas at Tyler was founded in 1971 as Tyler State College by the Texas Legislature. In 1975, it became part of the University of Texas System and was renamed Texas Eastern University. In 1979, it was given its current name, the University of Texas at Tyler.

Academics

UT Tyler offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs through its various colleges and schools, including the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and Technology, College of Education and Psychology, College of Engineering, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and the Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy.

The main campus of UT Tyler is located in Tyler, Texas, and spans over 200 acres. The university also operates satellite campuses in Longview, Palestine, and Houston.

Athletics

UT Tyler's athletic teams are known as the Patriots. They compete in NCAA Division II and are members of the Lone Star Conference. The university offers a variety of sports, including baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, and volleyball.
