The University of Puerto Rico (UPR) is a public university system in Puerto Rico. History

The University of Puerto Rico was founded in 1903, initially as a small teacher-training school in Fajardo. In 1908, it was moved to Río Piedras, where it became the first campus of the university system. Over the years, the university expanded to include additional campuses across the island.
