Tribeca (stylized as TriBeCa, short for "Triangle Below Canal Street") is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City. It is bounded by Canal Street, West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. The name is a portmanteau derived from "Triangle Below Canal Street."
History
Tribeca was originally farmland in the 18th century. By the mid-19th century, it had become a bustling commercial hub, particularly known for its textile and cotton trade. The area experienced a decline in the mid-20th century but began to gentrify in the 1980s, attracting artists and young professionals.

Tribeca is located in the southwestern part of Manhattan. It is bordered by SoHo to the north, Chinatown to the east, and the Financial District to the south. The neighborhood is characterized by its cobblestone streets and loft-style buildings.
