Transport Canada




Transport Canada (TC) is the department within the Government of Canada responsible for developing regulations, policies, and services of transportation in Canada. It is headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario.
History[edit]
Transport Canada was established in 1936 as the Department of Transport. The department was created to consolidate various transportation-related functions that were previously managed by different government agencies. Over the years, its mandate has expanded to include all modes of transportation, including aviation, marine, rail, and road transport.
Responsibilities[edit]
Transport Canada is responsible for:
- Developing and enforcing regulations for the safety and security of Canada's transportation systems.
- Promoting efficient and environmentally responsible transportation.
- Overseeing the development and maintenance of transportation infrastructure.
- Representing Canada in international transportation forums.
Organizational Structure[edit]
