Aviation Medicine

Aviation medicine, also known as aerospace medicine (pronunciation: /ˌeɪviˈeɪʃən ˈmɛdɪsɪn/), is a medical specialty that focuses on the health, safety and performance of people who fly, whether as passengers or crew members.

Etymology

The term "aviation" comes from the Latin word "avis", which means bird, and the suffix "-ation", which implies action or condition. The term "medicine" comes from the Latin word "medicina", which means the art of healing.
