Temocapril

Temocapril (pronunciation: /tɛmˈoʊkəˌprɪl/) is an ACE inhibitor used for the treatment of hypertension and congestive heart failure.

Etymology

The term "Temocapril" is derived from the chemical name (3S)-3-[[[2S)-1-ethoxy-1-oxo-4-phenylbutan-2-yl]amino]-2-oxo-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-1-benzazepine-1-acetic acid.

Usage

Temocapril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure. It works by relaxing blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily, reducing the heart's workload and helping it to pump more efficiently.

Related Terms

  • ACE inhibitors: A class of drugs used primarily for the treatment of hypertension and heart failure.
  • Hypertension: A condition characterized by consistently high blood pressure.
  • Congestive heart failure: A chronic condition in which the heart doesn't pump blood as well as it should.

Side Effects

Like all medications, Temocapril can cause side effects. Common side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, or tiredness. Serious side effects are rare, but may include fainting, symptoms of a high potassium blood level (such as muscle weakness, slow/irregular heartbeat), or signs of infection (such as fever, chills, persistent sore throat).

Precautions

Before taking Temocapril, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other ACE inhibitors (such as lisinopril); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.
