Sunrise (/ˈsʌnraɪz/), also known as dawn, is the moment when the upper limb of the Sun appears on the horizon in the morning. The term can also refer to the entire process of the Sun crossing the horizon and its accompanying atmospheric effects.
Etymology
The term "sunrise" is derived from the Old English words "sunne" (sun) and "risan" (to rise). The term "dawn" comes from the Old English word "dagian," meaning "to become day."
