The St. Louis Cardinals are a professional baseball team based in St. Louis, Missouri. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) Central division. The team was established in 1882 and has won 11 World Series championships, the second-most in MLB history, and 23 National League pennants.
History
The franchise was founded in 1882 as the St. Louis Brown Stockings and joined the American Association. In 1892, the team moved to the National League. The team was renamed the St. Louis Perfectos in 1899 before becoming the St. Louis Cardinals in 1900.
Ballpark
The Cardinals play their home games at Busch Stadium, which opened in 2006. The stadium is the third to bear the name Busch Stadium, with the previous two being located in the same area.
Achievements
The Cardinals have won 11 World Series titles, with their most recent championship coming in 2011. They have also won 23 National League pennants and 15 division titles. The team has made 4 wild card appearances.
