Rescue 1122

Rescue 1122 is an emergency service that serves the Punjab region of Pakistan. It was established under the 2006 Punjab Emergency Service Act to provide management of emergencies such as fire, rescue and emergency medical services.

History[edit]

The service was established by the Government of Punjab in 2006. The initiative was taken after the realization of the absence of an established emergency service in the province. The service was initially launched in Lahore, and later expanded to all districts of Punjab.

Training[edit]

Rescue 1122 has a comprehensive training program for its rescuers. The training includes professional courses in firefighting, medical first response, search and rescue and water rescue. The training is conducted at the Emergency Services Academy, which is the only institution of its kind in Pakistan.

Operations[edit]

Rescue 1122 operates in all 36 districts of Punjab and is headquartered in Lahore. The service operates a fleet of ambulances, fire trucks, rescue and recovery vehicles and water bowzers. The service is accessible through the emergency telephone number 1122.
