Plandemic

From WikiMD's medical encyclopedia

Plandemic is a series of two conspiracy theory promoting videos produced by Mikki Willis in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The videos promote misinformation about the pandemic and have been widely criticized and removed from several platforms due to their misleading content.

Overview

The first video, released in May 2020, features an interview with Judy Mikovits, a discredited former researcher who makes a number of false and misleading claims about the pandemic, vaccines, and public health officials. The second video, released in August 2020, is a more polished production that repeats many of the same claims and introduces new ones.

Reception

Both videos were widely shared on social media, but were quickly removed from many platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, for violating policies against spreading harmful misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic. The videos have been widely criticized by scientists, public health officials, and fact-checkers for promoting conspiracy theories and false information.

Impact

Despite efforts to remove the videos, they continue to be shared and viewed on various platforms. The videos have contributed to the spread of misinformation about the pandemic, undermining public health efforts to control the spread of the virus.
