Otfrid Foerster (9 November 1873 – 15 June 1941) was a renowned German neurologist and neurosurgeon. He is best known for his pioneering work in the field of neurosurgery and for his contributions to the understanding of the human nervous system.

Early Life and Education

Otfrid Foerster was born in Breslau, Germany (now Wrocław, Poland). He studied medicine at the University of Breslau and later at the University of Freiburg. Foerster completed his medical degree in 1897.

Career

Foerster began his career working under the guidance of Carl Wernicke, a prominent neurologist known for his research on aphasia. Foerster's early work focused on the study of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology. He later became a professor at the University of Breslau, where he conducted extensive research on the spinal cord and peripheral nerves.
