Maria Elena Bottazzi
Maria Elena Bottazzi is a Honduran-American microbiologist and professor known for her work in vaccine development and global health. She is a prominent figure in the field of immunology and has made significant contributions to the development of vaccines for neglected tropical diseases.

Maria Elena Bottazzi was born in Honduras. She completed her undergraduate studies at the National Autonomous University of Honduras where she earned a degree in microbiology. She then pursued her graduate studies at the University of Florida, where she obtained a Ph.D. in molecular biology.
Career[edit]
Bottazzi is currently a professor of pediatrics and molecular virology and microbiology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She also serves as the Associate Dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor and is the co-director of the Texas Children's Hospital Center for Vaccine Development.
