Puddings are a type of dessert that originated from the United Kingdom. They are typically sweet, but can also be savory. Puddings can be served hot or cold, and are often enjoyed as a treat after a meal. The term "pudding" is also used in the United States to refer to a specific type of dessert that is similar to a custard or mousse.

Types of Puddings

Rice Pudding

Rice pudding is a dish made from rice mixed with water or milk and other ingredients such as cinnamon and raisins. Variants are used for either desserts or dinners. When used as a dessert, it is commonly combined with a sweetener such as sugar.

Bread Pudding

Bread pudding is a bread-based dessert popular in many countries' cuisines, made with stale bread and milk or cream, generally containing eggs, a form of fat such as oil, butter or lard, and depending on whether the pudding is sweet or savory, a variety of other ingredients.

Black Pudding

Black pudding, also known as blood pudding, is a type of blood sausage originating in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It is made from pork blood, with pork fat or beef suet, and a cereal, usually oatmeal, oat groats or barley groats.

Yorkshire Pudding

Yorkshire pudding is a common English side dish consisting of a baked pudding made from batter consisting of eggs, flour, and milk or water. It is often served with roast meat and gravy and is a staple of the traditional British Sunday roast.

Christmas Pudding

Christmas pudding is a type of pudding traditionally served as part of the Christmas dinner in the UK, Ireland and in other countries where it has been brought by British and Irish immigrants. It has its origins in medieval England, and is sometimes known as plum pudding or just "pud", though this can also refer to other kinds of boiled pudding involving dried fruit.
