Aloe Vera

Herbalism, also known as phytotherapy, is the study of botany and the use of medicinal plants. Plants have been the basis for medical treatments through much of human history, and such traditional medicine is still widely practiced today. This article provides a list of plants used in herbalism.

Dandelion

Aloe Vera[edit]

Aloe vera is a succulent plant species of the genus Aloe. It is used in traditional medicine as a skin treatment. In Ayurvedic medicine it is called kathalai, as kathal means "Aloe" and ilai means "leaf".

Basil[edit]

Basil

Basil is a culinary herb prominently featured in Italian cuisine, and also plays a major role in the Northeast Asian cuisine of Taiwan and the Southeast Asian cuisines of Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. It is also used for its essential oils.

Chamomile[edit]

Chamomile

Chamomile has been used for centuries in teas as a mild, relaxing sleep aid, treatment for fevers, colds, stomach ailments, and as an anti-inflammatory.

Dandelion[edit]

Dandelions are used as food plants by the larvae of some species of Lepidoptera. The plant is also used as a herbal medicine in European and Chinese traditional medicine.

Echinacea[edit]

Echinacea

Echinacea is a genus, or group of herbaceous flowering plants in the daisy family. The Echinacea genus has nine species, which are commonly called purple coneflowers. They are used in herbal medicine, primarily in North America.
