List of Bamboo Species

Bamboo is a group of woody perennial grasses in the true grass family Poaceae, subfamily Bambusoideae, tribe Bambuseae. Some of its members are giants, forming by far the largest members of the grass family. This list of bamboo species includes species of the genera Bambusa, Dendrocalamus, Phyllostachys, Gigantochloa, and others.

Bambusa

Bambusa is a large genus of clumping bamboos. Most species of Bambusa are tropical and subtropical.

Dendrocalamus

Dendrocalamus is a tropical genus of giant clumping bamboos in the grass family.

Phyllostachys

Phyllostachys is a genus of Asian bamboos in the grass family. They are among the most widely grown bamboos in the United States and Europe.

Gigantochloa

Gigantochloa is a tropical genus of large clumping bamboos native to Southeast Asia.
