Herbal cigarette

From WikiMD's medical encyclopedia

Herbal cigarette

Herbal Cigarettes are a type of non-tobacco cigarette that are made using various herbs or herbal blends. They are often used as a substitute for traditional tobacco cigarettes, particularly by those who are trying to quit smoking. However, while they do not contain tobacco or nicotine, they are not necessarily a healthier alternative to regular cigarettes.

Composition

Herbal cigarettes can be made from a variety of different herbs or herbal blends. Some of the most common herbs used include mint, clove, cinnamon, rose, lemon grass, corn silk, licorice root, and passion flower. Some herbal cigarettes may also contain honey, fruit juices, or other natural flavorings to enhance the taste.

Health Risks

While herbal cigarettes do not contain tobacco or nicotine, they are not without their own health risks. When burned, the herbs in these cigarettes produce tar and carbon monoxide, just like regular cigarettes. These substances can be harmful to the lungs and respiratory system. In addition, some of the herbs used in herbal cigarettes can be toxic when burned and inhaled.

Regulation

In many countries, herbal cigarettes are subject to the same regulations as regular cigarettes. This means they cannot be sold to minors, and they must carry health warnings on the packaging. However, because they do not contain tobacco, they are not subject to tobacco taxes.

Use in Media

Herbal cigarettes are often used in film and television productions where the actors are required to smoke on screen. This is because they do not contain nicotine, so they do not pose the risk of addiction for the actors.
