Hamburger University is a training facility at the McDonald's Corporation global headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. It was established in 1961 to provide training for McDonald's employees in restaurant management. The university is known for its rigorous curriculum and has trained over 275,000 restaurant managers, mid-managers, and owner-operators.
History[edit]
Hamburger University was founded by Ray Kroc, the founder of the McDonald's Corporation. The first campus was located in the basement of a McDonald's restaurant in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. In 1983, Hamburger University moved to a new, purpose-built campus in Oak Brook, Illinois. This campus featured state-of-the-art training facilities, including a 300-seat auditorium, interactive education team rooms, and a kitchen lab. In 2018, Hamburger University relocated to the McDonald's global headquarters in Chicago.
