HEENT Examination

The HEENT Examination (pronounced as H-E-E-N-T examination) is a standard component of a physical examination that stands for Head, Eyes, Ears, Nose, and Throat examination.

Etymology

The term HEENT originated from the initial letters of the five areas of examination: Head, Eyes, Ears, Nose, and Throat.

Head Examination

The Head Examination involves a detailed inspection of the patient's head, including the scalp, skull, and face. It is performed to identify any abnormalities or signs of disease.

Eyes Examination

The Eyes Examination is a critical part of the HEENT examination. It involves the inspection of the patient's eyes, including the eyelids, conjunctiva, sclera, cornea, iris, and pupils. It is performed to identify any visual impairments or signs of disease.

Ears Examination

Nose Examination
