Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), also known as IP University, is a public university located in Delhi, India. It was established in 1998 by the Government of NCT of Delhi as a teaching-cum-affiliating university with the aim to facilitate and promote studies, research, and extension work in emerging areas of higher education with a focus on professional education. The university is named after the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh.

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University was established by the Government of Delhi in 1998 through the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998. The university started its journey with the objective of providing quality education in various fields of professional studies. Over the years, GGSIPU has grown into a dynamic and vibrant university, offering a wide range of programs across multiple disciplines.

Campus[edit]

The main campus of GGSIPU is located at Dwarka, Delhi, and is equipped with modern infrastructure and facilities to support academic and extracurricular activities. The campus houses various academic blocks, libraries, hostels, and sports complexes to cater to the needs of students and faculty members.

Academics[edit]

The university follows a semester system and has adopted the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for most of its programs.

Admission[edit]

Admission to various programs at GGSIPU and its affiliated colleges is highly competitive and is primarily based on entrance exams conducted by the university. The Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (IPU CET) is the main entrance exam for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. However, for certain courses, national level exams such as JEE Main for engineering, NEET for medical programs, and CLAT for law are also accepted.

GGSIPU is actively involved in research and has several research centers in areas such as renewable energy, environmental sciences, and biomedical sciences. The university encourages faculty and students to undertake research projects and provides support through various grants and facilities.
