Gujarati (ગુજરાતી)

Gujarati (pronounced: [ɡudʒəˈɾɑːtiː]) is an Indo-Aryan language native to the Indian state of Gujarat. It is part of the greater Indo-European language family.

Etymology

The term Gujarati is derived from Gujarat, the region where the language is predominantly spoken. Gujarat itself is believed to be a derivation of Gurjar, a tribe that migrated to the area in the 8th century.
