A Funeral Home (pronunciation: /ˈfjuːnərəl hoʊm/), also known as a mortuary or funeral parlor, is a business that provides interment and funeral services for the dead and their families. These services may include a prepared wake and funeral, and the provision of a chapel for the funeral.

Etymology

The term "funeral home" comes from the fact that many of the first funeral homes were established in actual homes. The term "mortuary" comes from the Latin word "mortuus," which means "dead."
