Frankfurt School

Frankfurt School refers to a group of German intellectuals and social theorists associated with the Institute for Social Research (Institut für Sozialforschung), which was established in Frankfurt in 1923. The School's work is synonymous with Critical Theory, a broad area of scholarship concerned with critiquing and changing society as a whole, rather than merely documenting it. The Frankfurt School's theories combine elements of Marxism, psychoanalysis, and other intellectual traditions.
