Raymond E. Feist (born December 23, 1945) is an American author known for his fantasy novels and series. His best-known work is the Riftwar Cycle, which includes the popular Riftwar Saga and its numerous sequels and spin-offs.

Biography

Raymond E. Feist was born in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of California, San Diego, where he graduated with a degree in Communication Studies. It was during his time at university that he developed the ideas for his first novel, Magician.

Career

Feist's first novel, Magician, was published in 1982 and was later split into two volumes, Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master. The book was a critical and commercial success, establishing Feist as a prominent author in the fantasy genre.

Following the success of Magician, Feist continued to expand the world of Midkemia, a fictional universe originally created for a role-playing game. His subsequent works include Silverthorn, A Darkness at Sethanon, and many others, forming the extensive Riftwar Cycle series.
