Ellen Trane Nørby
Danish politician
Ellen Trane Nørby (born 1 February 1979) is a Danish politician who has been a member of the Folketing for the Venstre party since 2005. She has held several ministerial positions, including Minister for Health and Minister for Education.
Early life and education[edit]
Ellen Trane Nørby was born in Herning, Denmark. She attended the University of Copenhagen, where she earned a degree in art history and political science.
Political career[edit]
Nørby was first elected to the Folketing in the 2005 general election. She has been an active member of the Venstre party, which is a liberal and centre-right political party in Denmark.
Minister for Education[edit]
In June 2015, Nørby was appointed as the Minister for Education in the cabinet of Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. During her tenure, she focused on improving the quality of education and implementing reforms to enhance the Danish education system.
Minister for Health[edit]
In November 2016, Nørby was appointed as the Minister for Health, succeeding Sophie Løhde. As Minister for Health, she worked on various healthcare reforms, including efforts to improve patient care and the efficiency of the Danish healthcare system. She served in this role until June 2019, when she was succeeded by Magnus Heunicke.
Personal life[edit]
Ellen Trane Nørby is married and has children. She continues to be an influential figure in Danish politics and remains active in her party.
