Eberconazole is an antifungal medication used primarily in the treatment of various fungal infections of the skin. It belongs to the class of azole antifungals, which work by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes.

Mechanism of Action

Eberconazole exerts its antifungal effects by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase, which is crucial for the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol. This inhibition disrupts the fungal cell membrane, leading to increased membrane permeability and ultimately causing cell death.
