Desmoid tumor - (pronounced) (DEZ-moyd TOO-mer) type of soft-tissue tumor that forms in fibrous (connective) tissue, usually in the arms, legs, or abdomen. It can also appear in the head and neck area. Desmoid tumors are usually benign (not cancerous). They often recur after treatment and spread to nearby tissues, but they rarely spread to other parts of the body. They can occur in adults or children. Also called aggressive fibromatosis and desmoid-type fibromatosis
