Definition
A Delta wave is a type of brain wave that is large (high amplitude) and slow (low frequency, 0.5 to 3 Hz). These waves are usually associated with the deep stage 3 of NREM sleep (non-rapid eye movement), also known as slow-wave sleep (SWS), and aid in characterizing the depth of sleep.
