Co-dominance (pronunciation: /koʊˈdɒmɪnəns/) is a form of dominance wherein the alleles of a gene pair in a heterozygote are fully expressed. This results in offspring with a phenotype that is neither dominant nor recessive.
Etymology
The term "Co-dominance" is derived from the Latin prefix 'co-' meaning 'together', and the English word 'dominance'. It was first used in the field of genetics to describe the phenomenon where two different versions of a gene are expressed equally in the phenotype of an organism.
