Clocinizine
Clocinizine is a type of antihistamine that is primarily used to treat allergies. It is also used to treat nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness. Clocinizine works by blocking a certain natural substance (histamine) that your body makes during an allergic reaction. Its drying effects on such symptoms as watery eyes and runny nose are caused by blocking another natural substance made by your body (acetylcholine).
Uses[edit]
Clocinizine is used to prevent and treat nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness. It is also used for relieving symptoms of allergies, such as runny nose, sneezing, itching of the nose or throat, and itchy or watery eyes. It can also be used to help you relax and fall asleep.
Side Effects[edit]
Common side effects of clocinizine include drowsiness, dry mouth, and urinary retention. Serious side effects may include heart arrhythmias, psychosis, and an increased risk of motor vehicle collisions. It should not be used in those with an enlarged prostate or glaucoma.
Interactions[edit]
Clocinizine may interact with other medications, including other antihistamines, anticholinergics, and CNS depressants. It is important to inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are currently taking to avoid potential interactions.
