Chung Shan Medical University was established in 1960 as Chung Shan Dentistry College. It was founded by Dr. Chang Chi-yun and Dr. Chung Ching-cheng with the aim of providing quality education in the field of dentistry. In 1977, the institution expanded its academic offerings and was renamed Chung Shan Medical College. It achieved university status in 2001, becoming Chung Shan Medical University.
