Cádiz

Cádiz is a city and port in southwestern Spain. It is the capital of the Province of Cádiz, one of eight that make up the autonomous community of Andalusia.

History

Cádiz is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe, with archaeological remains dating back over 3,100 years. The city was founded by the Phoenicians as Gadir and later became an important Roman port.

Geography

Cádiz is located on a narrow slice of land surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. It is a part of the Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light) and is known for its long and influential history.
