Flamenco
Flamenco
Flamenco (pronunciation: /fləˈmɛŋkoʊ/, Spanish: [flaˈmeŋko]) is a genre of Spanish music, song, and dance from Andalusia, in southern Spain, that includes cante (singing), toque (guitar playing), baile (dance) and palmas (handclaps).
Etymology
The term "Flamenco" was first recorded in the late 18th century but the origins of the term are unclear. It is thought to refer to the flamboyant style of the music and dance, or possibly to the gypsies, who are often associated with flamenco and are called "flamencos" in Spanish.
