From WikiMD's WELLNESSPEDIA

Breast cancer, education - programs or materials to provide information on breast cancer prevention, detection, or treatment to health professionals, patients and their families, the public, or high-risk groups.

2nd most common cancer[edit]

After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women.

Lifetime risk[edit]

Lifetime Risk of Developing Cancer: Approximately 12.9 percent of women will be diagnosed with female breast cancer at some point during their lifetime, based on 2015–2017 data.

Prevention[edit]

Mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms.

Group education[edit]

The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommends group education to increase breast cancer screening. Group education conveys information on indications for, benefits of, and ways to overcome barriers to screening with the goal of informing, encouraging, and motivating participants to seek recommended screening. Group education is usually conducted by health professionals or by trained lay people who use presentations or other teaching aids in a lecture or interactive format, and often incorporate role modeling or other methods. Group education can be given to a variety of groups, in different settings, and by different types of educators with different backgrounds and styles.
