Ayaan Hirsi Ali

Ayaan Hirsi Ali (born Ayaan Hirsi Magan on 13 November 1969) is a Somali-born Dutch-American activist, feminist, author, scholar, and former politician. She gained international attention as a critic of Islam, advocating for the rights and self-determination of Muslim women, opposing female genital mutilation, and calling for a reformation within Islam. Early Life

Ayaan Hirsi Ali was born in Mogadishu, Somalia. Her family was part of the Somali elite; her father, Hirsi Magan Isse, was a prominent opposition figure.
