An Audiometrist (pronounced: aw-dee-oh-meh-trist) is a healthcare professional who specializes in identifying, diagnosing, treating, and monitoring disorders of the auditory and vestibular system portions of the ear. They are trained to perform hearing tests, dispense, manage, and maintain hearing aid devices, and implement and monitor hearing conservation programs.
Etymology
The term "Audiometrist" is derived from the Latin word "audire" which means "to hear" and the Greek word "metron" which means "measure". Thus, an Audiometrist is one who measures hearing.
