Aeromonas veronii (pronunciation: /ˌɛərəˈmoʊnəs vɛˈroʊniː/) is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacteria that is part of the Aeromonadaceae family.

Etymology

The name Aeromonas veronii is derived from the Greek words aer meaning air, monas meaning unit, and veronii in honor of the French microbiologist Jean Veron who made significant contributions to the study of the Aeromonas genus.

Description

Aeromonas veronii is a facultative anaerobic organism that can grow in both the presence and absence of oxygen. It is motile due to the presence of a single flagellum. This bacterium is known to cause diseases in fish and humans. In humans, it can cause gastroenteritis, wound infections, and septicemia.
