V8 (beverage)

V8 is a vegetable juice beverage brand that is owned and produced by the Campbell Soup Company. The name "V8" is a reference to the eight types of vegetables that are used in the production of the juice. These vegetables include tomato, carrot, beet, parsley, lettuce, watercress, spinach, and celery.

History[edit]

V8 was first developed by W.G. Peacock, a Chicago grocer, in 1933. The product was initially sold under the name "Vege-min 8". In 1948, the Campbell Soup Company acquired the brand and renamed it to "V8".

Varieties[edit]

Over the years, the V8 brand has expanded to include a variety of different beverages. These include:

  • V8 Original: The original V8 juice, made from eight vegetables.
  • V8 Low Sodium: A version of the original V8 juice with reduced sodium content.
  • V8 Spicy Hot: A spicy version of the original V8 juice.
  • V8 V-Fusion: A line of juices that blend fruit and vegetable juices.
  • V8 Splash: A line of fruit-flavored beverages.
  • V8 +Energy: A line of energy drinks made with fruit and vegetable juices.

Nutrition[edit]

V8 juice is often marketed as a healthy beverage due to its high content of vegetables. However, it is important to note that while V8 juice does contain a variety of nutrients from the vegetables it is made from, it also contains a significant amount of sodium and sugar.

In popular culture[edit]

V8 has been referenced in various forms of popular culture, including television shows, movies, and music. It is often used as a symbol of health and vitality.
