Joia Mukherjee is an American physician, educator, and advocate known for her work in global health. She is the Chief Medical Officer of Partners In Health (PIH), an international non-profit organization that provides healthcare to impoverished communities around the world. Mukherjee is also an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Joia Mukherjee was born in the United States. She completed her undergraduate studies at University of Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She then attended University of Minnesota Medical School, where she received her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Mukherjee also holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Mukherjee began her career in global health as a resident in internal medicine and pediatrics at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. She joined Partners In Health in 2000 and has since played a pivotal role in the organization's efforts to provide healthcare in resource-poor settings.

As the Chief Medical Officer of PIH, Mukherjee oversees clinical programs in countries such as Haiti, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, and Peru. She has been instrumental in developing and implementing strategies to combat diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and Ebola.
