BBC One is a television channel operated by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). It was launched on 2 November 1936 as the BBC Television Service and was the world's first regular television service with a high level of image resolution. The channel was later renamed BBC TV in 1960, and then BBC One in 1964.

History

BBC One began its broadcast on 2 November 1936 from Alexandra Palace in London. It was the first regular public television service with a high level of image resolution. The service was suspended during World War II from 1 September 1939 to 7 June 1946.

In 1964, the channel was renamed BBC One following the launch of its sister channel, BBC Two. BBC One has since become the flagship channel of the BBC, known for its wide range of programming, including news, drama, comedy, documentaries, and entertainment.
