P2RY2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the P2RY2 gene. This protein is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family, and has been identified as a receptor for purine and pyrimidine nucleotides.

Function[edit]

The P2RY2 protein is a receptor for adenosine and uridine nucleotides. It is involved in several cellular functions, including the regulation of platelet activation, apoptosis, and cell proliferation. The P2RY2 receptor is also involved in the regulation of inflammatory responses and may play a role in the pathophysiology of diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Clinical significance[edit]

Mutations in the P2RY2 gene have been associated with a variety of diseases, including autoimmune diseases, cancer, and neurological disorders. For example, a mutation in this gene has been linked to Pulmonary hypertension, a condition characterized by high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs.
