Mount Sinai Morningside is a teaching hospital located in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. It is part of the Mount Sinai Health System and is affiliated with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
History[edit]
Mount Sinai Morningside was founded in 1847 as the St. Luke's Hospital by William Augustus Muhlenberg, a prominent Episcopal priest. The hospital was originally located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and moved to its current location in 1896. In 1979, St. Luke's merged with Roosevelt Hospital to form St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center. In 2013, the hospital became part of the Mount Sinai Health System and was renamed Mount Sinai Morningside in 2020.
